Dutch Design Week 2024: Where innovation meets imagination
To ensure an optimal experience at Dutch Design Week, we have compiled three essential tips to assist you in navigating this nine-day event with ease, and selected 9 shows/venues not to miss. Including Raw Color, Poetics of Prompting at MU and Next Nature Museum.
- Given the extensive programme of events, advance planning is essential. The Dutch Design Week website allows users to create a list of favourites once an account has been set up. Fortunately, we have already examined the extensive programme and selected a number of highlights that extend beyond the conventional boundaries of product design. We highly recommend these showcases, just scroll down and find out. Additionally, we would like to acknowledge the recently launched website, designweekmap.com. This innovative platform provides an interactive map with all locations, enabling you to identify nearby "open doors" based on your current location.
- Make sure you organise some sort of transport. The venues of Dutch Design Week are spread all over the city, so plan your movement through the city in advance. It's a good idea to make sure you have an easy way of getting between locations, whether that's by skateboard, bike, public transport or ride-sharing.
- We think its wise to avoid the big venues at the beginning of the day. Instead, start your day at smaller, off-site venues such as Hallenweg, Gasfabriek or Next Nature Museum. This will give you the chance to discover some hidden gems at your own pace before moving on to the bigger exhibitions later on.

Housed in an inflatable dome inspired by Stan VanDerBeek's Movie Drome (1965), the pavilion blurs the boundaries between light and dark, space and perception. Each visitor experiences the installation uniquely as a specially designed circle of light forms a spatial cylinder, challenging the boundaries of reality and illusion. Located in Koelhuis' Creativity Garden, a new hub for immersive experiences, the Eigengrau Pavilion makes its debut at DDW 2024.

Girls 9 to 11: The solution for the liveable city?

Now sold out, the collection shows how colour interacts with light, materials and form to evoke emotions and enhance living spaces. The collaboration emphasises an experimental approach, exploring different combinations of shades and materials to brighten up homes and promote well-being through colour.
