Renowned Dutch platform for visual arts Playgrounds sets up a new festival in Berlin: Playgrounds The Art Department. On 10 & 11 October the Berlin creative community is invited to a 2-day immersion of visual storytelling. Join Playgrounds for a fest and conference on design and concept art for film, animation, and games. Partners in Berlin are Drink and Draw Berlin and Firestarter Community Magazine.

Confirmed headliners: Nelson Lowry of LAIKA (US / production designer The Missing Link), Patrick O’Keefe (US / art director Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), Loish (NL / illustrator and concept artist, Horizon Zero Dawn), Kevin Dart (VS / concept artist/character designer, Big Hero 6, Inside Out), Maxx Burman (VS / matte painter/art director, Godzilla, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead), The Line Animation Studio (UK / animation studio, Gorillaz, Amaro & Walden), Rex Crowle (UK / game designer Little Big Planet), Jama Jurabaev (TSJ / concept artist Fantastic Beasts, Ready Player One) and Even Mehl Amundsen (N / concept artist, Karakter, Ubisoft, book TEGN). Next to a line-up of artist talks Playgrounds will provide a program of Paint-Over Sessions, a Firestarter Job Market, portfolio reviews, live sketch in collaboration with Drink and Draw Berlin.
