With lots of joy, letterspace welcomes back their former studio-mate and co-founder Diana Ovezea and her colleagues Barbara Bigosińska and Rafał Buchner. The three will launch their long anticipated foundry, that has been publishing their typefaces through platforms like Future Fonts and I Love Typography. Next to presenting the website and the process of establishing a company, they will also show some recent work they have been doing in the service of other foundries and big design companies. Make sure to be there, it will be a Blast! — Blast Foundry is the collaboration of three individual type designers that decided that they would be stronger together, as a team. Barbara is the typography queen, Rafał is the coding wizard, and Diana is the eagle eyes. With their powers combined they can cater to the font and tool development needs of design studios and other type foundries. They take over production, coding, and font engineering jobs from foundries like CoType Foundry, Socio Type, Indian Type Foundry, and Typotheque. Amongst the most notable collaborations on custom typeface designs is their ongoing partnership with Pentagram New York, together with whom they designed a custom handwritten typeface for Deloitte Insights, a custom headline typeface for the well-known street paper Big Issue in the UK, as well as the opening credits typefaces for the shows Extraordinary (Disney+), Landscapers (HBO), and The Responder (BBC One). The Blast Foundry members also flex their creative muscles and design their own fonts. The more experimental design are available at Future Fonts, while the more commercial designs will be available for sale on their website soon. — In their lecture, the Blast Foundry team will talk us through their creative process using examples of work from the last few years. Many of these projects have been under wraps until now, so you might be getting a sneak peak at never before seen designs. The team will show a selection of custom typeface projects, tool development, and will also showcase their own retail fonts. If all goes well, the Blast Foundry website is weeks away from release and you’ll be the first ones to see it.
